We no longer offer this course. However, this is a great project to do in your second session of Woodworking Studio after you have learned the basics in your first session.
Here is how the course used to appear:
We meet for eight evening sessions to build a small trestle-style table using two types of mortise and tenon joints and a sliding dovetail joint. We will practice the safe use of the table saw, miter saw, jointer, planer, router table, and band saw. Your completed table will be ready for you to apply a coat of finish at home. This course is for beginning and intermediate woodworkers. No experience is necessary.
Class covers:
- Table design
- Hardwood types
- Power tool usage
- Table joinery
After completing this class you can extend your skills with more complex projects by signing up for the You Can Build It or Maker Club workshops.
Class fee is $334 for 7 sessions of 3 hours each. (6 person maximum). A material fee of $40 is included in class tuition. The class fee includes poplar (a type of wood) that we use to make the tables. Other species of wood are available at additional cost.
Students under 18 can enroll if a parent also enrolls — or with instructor’s prior approval.
