Niles Wertz started laser cutting in our program when he was in elementary school. He continued improving his skills and gained such proficiency that he taught our wood turning classes in 2018-2019.
Niles has gone off to college but we still offer wood turning. It is now incorporated into Makers Workshop. There you can learn the basics of wood turning and can continue using our wood lathes either in Makers Workshop or in Woodworking Studio.
While the wood lathe spins a block of wood, you hold a tool that carves the wood. This technique enables you to make objects such as wooden pens, mallets, candlesticks, and spinning tops and bowls. You will learn Safety and Basic Operation for the wood lathe, drill press, and band saw. No experience necessary.
